I'm sort of a really bad actor and I seriously need to brush up my acting skills, so I desperately need the best advice any of you can give me, thank you so much! What is the best acting advice you have for me?Come on, just about anything will be appreciated. Please?
Don't try too hard, stop trying to force it...
Remember, you don't ACT, you just ARE.
:)What is the best acting advice you have for me?Come on, just about anything will be appreciated. Please?
Take a deep breath. Being desperate won't get you anywhere.
Read through your scene(s). read it again. And again. Know it by heart. Find what you character wants above everything else. Write it at the top of the page. But make it as if you want it. ';I want you (my dad) to love me'; for example. Then go through the script and list any obstacles. They could be location (if you're in a crowded store, people could hear your conversation that you would want to be private), race, gender, height, social status, ect. List any possibles. Figure out what you're trying to achieve at each moment and what is preventing you from getting it.
Then when you do the scene, focus on what you want and LISTEN. If you really want to be in the moment and seem real, really listen to what your scene partner is saying. Don't fake listening. Actually listen. Actually listen and genuinely respond.
Once you've mastered that then you can add things to your performance, like props, backstory, inner monologues, place, 4th wall, substitution, ect.
The key to acting is to focus. You have to constantly be thinking about what you want and why you aren't getting it. Respond to that. That's all acting is. Relax. Allow yourself to listen and be in that moment without thinking about others. All that matters is you and what you want. That's the most important thing. Everything else is superfluous. Focus.
I hope this has helped. Feel free to email me if you have other questions.

Are you careful about the advice you receive in the Adoption category?
I am a mother to two babies adopted at birth. I am aware of many of the laws within our state concerning adoption and I am very mindful of my adoption language as well as promoting a positive view on adoption for those who want to know more about the process or who are thinking of adopting.
The support given to everyone who posts a question in this catergory is tremendous. It's great to see others offering their advice and words of well wishes to those on all sides of the adoption triad.
However, I've noticed that sometimes the advice given is based on opinion or misinformation rather than fact. So, please keep in mind that not everything you read here is considered to be lawful or factual.
Use this forum as a resource, but make sure you check out your own state's laws as well during your research.
Adoption is wonderful and I hope that everyone considering adoption, placing a child for adoption, or searching for birthparents to be well informed. Are you careful about the advice you receive in the Adoption category?
I think that anyone, regardless of the category that they are posting a question in, should take all that they read here with a pinch of salt. Yes, most of it is personal opinion and therefore should never be taken as the gospel truth . . . I am wondering how many people believe everything they read here. . . . some of the questions do amaze me but I think that if people have half a brain, they would get some general advice here but back it up properly with more specialised and verified advice . . . . surely?!
Thanks for your post - and concern!
Best wishes. Are you careful about the advice you receive in the Adoption category?
It would also be helpful, in my opinion, for more people to post sources/links to additional information to jump start the person doing more research. Yahoo makes it easy with a search window right on the answer screen.
I know I am going to try to include a link as often as possible.
Thanks for bringing this issue up
Thank you for your question! I too agree with the comments you have made, and agree that we do all need to also be mindful of using the proper positive adoption language in this category.
The support here is truly amazing and I am so glad that I can be a part of that. But you are correct, the information provided should only be used as a start to check into things in your own state. Things vary so widely from state to state and even agency to agency when it comes to adoption.
Kudos to you for bringing up this sensitive subject.
I think that all information received on this website should be used as a guideline....not as the absoulute truth.
Remember, the poeple on this site (including myself) are just regular every day people voicing their opinions.
Congrats on your adoption of your two wonderful kids.....they're lucky to have someone like you in their lives!eye liner

What sort of a gift could you get for somebody to take time out of their work to give you careers advice?
I'm heading into my best mate's dad's work to talk a co-worker of his who's taken the time out of his day to speak to me about my career. They are in a good company and I want to leave a good impression in case I apply for vacation work their for my resume, so I think I should buy them a gift of some sort (bottle of wine? something...)
Any bright Ideas? What sort of a gift could you get for somebody to take time out of their work to give you careers advice?
Baked goods always work - some gooey cookies. Wine could be a problem - some work environments prohibit alcohol on their premises. What sort of a gift could you get for somebody to take time out of their work to give you careers advice?
a bottle of wine is fine but i don think u reli have to get him anything...u r the bosses' son anyway. Just create a good self image n he'll be glad he met u. Like dress up formal...talk matured...pop a mint b4 the meeting...lol.
No need. I'm sure the time off from work is something he appreciates already.

Do you have any good advice for having a car boot sale?
the last time i did one, i only made about 拢20 pounds, never mind 拢5 in petrol. and 拢5 to park.
even though i usually sell really good stuff! with tables packed full of things. other sales tend to do far better than me.
does anyone have any good tips, like bringing music and selling cakes that i can use?
thanks!Do you have any good advice for having a car boot sale?
Start your prices off slightly higher than what you want/expect - that way if people push you down you still get a good deal/get what you want. If people just pay you get more.
Don't go too low and sound confident when bargaining with people
Make sure people can see all that you are selling and price things so that people won't have to keep asking
Be friendly and let people think they are getting a good idea - if they ask about an item be honest and tell them as much as you can.
Don't have music - it is bound to annoy some people. Everyone has a different taste in music. I wouldn't sell cakes - while some people may buy them a lot of people will ignore them. After all, they don't know how professionally they've been done and exactly what they contain. Best to avoid selling food and drinkDo you have any good advice for having a car boot sale?
DON'T bring music, there is nothing more irritating than having to listen to someones elses idea of good music!!! Put all the good stuff at the front and make sure the people can reach the table without having to step over stuff. At the end of the day, you can only sell what people want to buy, don't yell and scream at people to come and have a look either, it puts people off and they will steer clear of you. Being cheerful and friendly is a big help.

Can you give some practical advice on life or a few words of wisdom?
Besides all the ';live each day to the fullest'; blah blah blah
For the students out there, this is my piece: i learned that you should really treat school like a job: show up, on time, work hard, etc. Sounds simple but i didn't realize this till now in my senior yr of college. Can you give some practical advice on life or a few words of wisdom?

Do not worry about yesterday, because it is gone. Tomorrow does not even exist. Today is now, live it to the fullest and enjoy every moment as if it was your last.
An old one, but one of my favourites:
';A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step';
... some people don't realise important thing like this until they are well into their adult life.... simply look forward... today is the first day of the rest of your life...
Its all about you and what you leave behind much love
And follow dress codes.
Any day above ground is a good day.

Would you share information and advice about visiting Aruba?
We will stay at the Radisson on Palm Beach later this month with our three children, 8, 11 and 16. Please tell us the best activities and the best casual places to eat. Are there any markets to buy fresh fruit and healthy snacks? We will probably not be driving. Thanks!Would you share information and advice about visiting Aruba?
Radisson is a beautiful resort and Palm Beach as well as the Radisson will be a fabulous vacation for kids and adults alike. Dh and I have stayed there four times and absolutely love it there. You can read some reviews of our trips at http://www.arubabound.com/trip_reports/t鈥?/a>
Most restaurants in Aruba are casual. Within walking distance are a ton of places. Off the top of my head a couple which come to mind: Gilligan's beachside at the Radisson, themed dinner buffet nightly at the Radisson's Laguna restaurant, Bugaloe at the end of De Palm Pier at the south end of the Radisson's property. Within a short walking distance streetside are Tomato Charlie's and Salt %26amp; Pepper. Beachside dining down the beach aways your family can walk to MoomBa which is located between the Holiday Inn and Marriott Vacation Club's Surf Club.
Activities were already highlighted by the other respondent, definitely take an island tour by either renting a 4 x 4 and venturing out on our own one day and seeing the island at your own pace, or with a jeep tour such as those by ABC Jeep Safari http://www.abc-aruba.com/
For fresh fruits and snacks ask your taxi driver to stop at one of the supermarkets (there are 3 clustered together half way between the airport and your destination the Radisson) and ask them to wait for you. http://taxiaruba.com/new/farelist.html Paying to him them wait, if you know the items you want, is more likely going to be less expensive than making a separate trip to the store. http://taxiaruba.com/new/policy.html The Radisson has mini-refrigertors free for use to guests available on first come, first served basis upon check-in.
If you have any further specific questions, please feel free to contact me directly.Would you share information and advice about visiting Aruba?

How do you start and advice website for teens and get it out so people know about it?
Check out my blog
http://www.sitestartups.comHow do you start and advice website for teens and get it out so people know about it?
First you should find a host. I recommend: http://www.officelive.com they will allow you to design your site and also host it for you. You can do this for free also. But one thing to remember after creating a website you need to get some traffic. For this I recommend google adsense. Not only will they put your site out there on the web but you also get money for each click.

Do you have any advice for my Evita audition?
I have been invited to attend an audition for the production of the musical Evita. I have never seen it and won't have time before the audition. I believe I cannot sing and I dance classical ballet rather than tango. Have you got anything all that you can tell me to help me prepare or help me out in any way possible? Any suggestion is welcome.Do you have any advice for my Evita audition?
You might consider watching the movie ';Evita'; with Madonna. It's hard to know how to advise you without knowing what you're auditioning for (singing role, chorus, dance part?). If you're auditioning by invitation, presumably whoever invited you thinks you can do it. You might try asking him or her (or whoever coordinates the auditions) what will be expected of you at the audition.

Do you agree with this advice? How should the US deal with our trillions of dollars of debt?
';To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers
load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and
servitude.';Do you agree with this advice? How should the US deal with our trillions of dollars of debt?
That debt is not just a magical number, we are in debt to different interests. China is buying a lot of our debt and allowing us to keep spending more than we take in. What happens if China decides that they want to cash in all of their bank notes at once? Our economy goes down the toilet. All of our available moneies would have to go to pay our debt leaving us as a nation without sufficient funds to carry on our daily business. People tend to think the government can just print more money, but that makes the money that we have worthless. It would end up costing $10 to buy a loaf of bread, and we would be in trouble trading with countries whose money is still worth something, we wouldn't be able to afford any of their products. Just because it is the governement doesn't mean that debt is not a problem. If you or I had a bunch of loans out, and the banks called them all in at the same time, we would be broken. So will the government. It is important that the next president pass a balanced budget and set aside funds to pay the debt that we have before it gets any worse. With over three trillion dollars in debt, can you imagine what the interest alone must be costing our nation. It is best to get it paid down, so we don't have to owe anyone in this world, just to meet our needs. With that kind of debt, there is plenty of room for countries to blackmail us. That is no good for the security of this nation. I agree with the quote above.Do you agree with this advice? How should the US deal with our trillions of dollars of debt?
Compared to 6 years ago the debt has gone down by two thirds. The feds are recording record cash from tax revenue for four years now.At this rate there will be no debt in appx 2 years or less. Dont believe the hype ,Research!
How should it matter?
How about we do what we have always done with record debt? Grow our way out of it.

If you get a public defender do you really get the best legal advice and defense?
I a just wondering because those types of lawyers get too many cases not enough time. I am not judging I was just just wondering if I needed a public defender if I was getting what I am entitled to.If you get a public defender do you really get the best legal advice and defense?
Within the public defender's office, like in the civilian world, there are good and not-so-good attorneys. So, in some cases it's the roll of the dice.
In MY experience, with 10 years as a probation officer, the ones who aren't great don't promote well... so the better attorney you are, the more you advance within the department... so the more serious the charges (to a certain degree) the more highly thought of the Deputy PD is.
Also, in Juvenile Delinquency cases, there is usually 1 or more public defenders assigned to oversee all juvenile delinquency matters... That's what they do full-time. Unless the case is EXTREMELY serious, folks are better off using a public defender who is familiar with the in's and out's of juvenile court. Recently a highly-paid private attorney walked in and sat down next to me in juvenile court, and asked me where we keep the plea forms. I had to explain to him that the Court is not allowed to entertain/accept plea bargains in juvenile matters. Later that week he called me to get my thoughts on different avenues he might want to pursue with the case... Me. The Probation Officer. He was making BANK and the kid would be FAR better off with a public defender who knows juvenile court well.If you get a public defender do you really get the best legal advice and defense?
Yes I definitely think so
I interned at a PDs office and yes they do have a LARGE amount of cases.
Some attorneys actually care about their clients and are GOOD at what they do in my experience about 1/5 the others were busy and didn't seem to care that much because they have TONS of other cases.
But that one attorney is the reason I want to be an attorney too :) She was awesome all her clients loved her and she cared plus she was good at it.
my son got a court appointed lawyer , a very serious charge and he did not do squat for him . i hired another lawyer . i had to max my credit card but at least i think the lawyer that i hired is not just sleeping. remember who pays for your public defender ,whos side will he be on if the other side is paying the bill. good luck on fairness i haven't seen it around here ever.
a public defender gets paid by the state, for those who usually can't afford a lawyer, i don't see why they would like to lose , some public defenders are supreme court justices and judges who started as public defenders !
Only if his/her other 150 cases disappear.
You meet them for 5 minutes before your court appearance and can never reach them by phone.
Plus if its takes awhile to settle your case you may have many different attny's.
In most states attorneys are required to take on a certain number of cases pro bono (free) so it's not always the over worked court appointed ones.
Not often.
...you get what you pay for
Y ask a question u know the ansa 2?

a public defender gets paid by the state, for those who usually can't afford a lawyer, i don't see why they would like to lose , some public defenders are supreme court justices and judges who started as public defenders !

Can you give me some advice for LONG DRIVES with small kids?
My wife and I will travel about 22 hours with 3 kids ( 7, 5, 2 ) in june. Can you give me please some advice ? I will bring a portable DVD and video games, but what else can I do to keep them at peace?
I plan to divide the travel in 3 days of 7-8 hrs, to give them time to have lunch and maybe arrive early to a hotel so they can go to the pool and relax...
Any ideas? Please ?Can you give me some advice for LONG DRIVES with small kids?
I am the mother of four children (all grown now) and we frequently traveled long distances in the car when they were young, so I have a few suggestions which worked for me (by the way, we didn't have dvd players back then!).
Before we ever left on a trip, I would get (or make) a map and mark the route so they could see where we were going. I would pick towns with funny names or places with history attached to them as ';markers'; - example, by the time we get to Bent Fork, we will be half-way there. I would also have them look up some of the places in the encyclopedia (no internet back then) so they would know something about them. Sometimes I would let them choose (between several hotels equal in cost, amenities, and quality) our hotel. Or, before we could afford hotels, I would let them look in our campground atlas and help select one.
Another thing I did was to assemble a ';goody bag'; for each of my children. I would gift wrap and put small, inexpensive things suitable for each child in the individual bags (example - crayons, coloring books, puzzle books, small cars, little handheld puzzles, etc.) Then I would pass out the items at specific times (two hours into the trip, etc.). They could unwrap them and play with them.
We made cassette tapes of the kids' favorite songs and played them. We also made tapes of stories/books they liked. We read and told stories to them (live). We played every car game you can imagine - car license bingo, ';20 Questions,'; I Spy, and ';A is for Apple.'; We sang camp songs - ';99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall,'; etc.
We stopped every 2-3 hours for a little break and let the kids get out of the car and walk around. We also carefully selected places with playgrounds/play structures when we stopped for lunch so the kids could slide, climb and run around for a while. I made sure to pack snacks like string cheese, crackers, and fruit to pass out when they said they were hungry so they would not eat too much junk food. We had water and lemonade to reduce the demands for soda.
As I said, all of my kids are adults now, so it's obvious that they did not kill one another while traveling, and we clearly did not kill them (or they us) either. Can you give me some advice for LONG DRIVES with small kids?
we had the same crew with the same ages and would travel from the midwest to florida and or california. The key was to rotate the kids thru the back seat, making sure no one was stuck in the middle and everyone got their turn at a window. In addition to the DVD and video games, we also played games with colors of cars and state license plates. Sounds hokey, but it worked. The best thing to do was limit their time in the car and make sure to have swimming pool time in the afternoon and adventures each evening (mini golf or someplace unique to eat dinner). We always made the trip part of the adventure and shared the planning with the maps for them... We actually got each one of them their own map from AAA, so they could follow where we were. Even the 2 YO would look at her map, could not read it, but felt like she could....
Good luck on with your adventure..
try to get them to sleep in the car if possible, the portable dvd and video games should keep them fairly preoccupied,
just make sure there is enough to go around so they aren't fighting over some of the items,
maybe you could tell them to bring anything they would like to play with in the car?
in all honesty though driving gets uncomfortable for everyone at some point so just plan some stops in between where they can get out and stretch their legs.
We bribe our children. For every hour they are good, no fighting, they can earn a surprise. Sometimes it is a special snack, sometimes it is a special toy, or a new book. I try to shop at a dollar store for all of my goodies. For our cross country trip, I am stocking up at ebay also. They have DS games the kids don't have, very cheap.
When we used to take long trips like that my parents would put our little TV in the car and my sister and I would watch that. Let your kids pick 2 or 3 movies that are there favorite. So you would have a total of about 9 movies for the trip. Also, avoid any situation in which a fight could start.
Dramamine.
We drive to Disney every year with the kids. This year we went in March and drove for almost 24 hours (we stopped at a hotel for the night). I have a 8 year old, 5 year old, and 3 year old twins. I was also 4 few weeks pregnant at the time, so I was very nauseous.
Pack a separate luggage of colouring books, car games, DVDs, CDs, books and new toys they have never seen before, keep this at the front. Don't dump all the toys out immediately, wait until you seriously NEED them (when the kids become crabby). Bring another luggage to keep at the front of the car with snacks and drinks (dry good preferably). Again, don't pull this out until you truly need it.
A portable DVD player is great, but have you ever considered getting a car TV? I find those more practical because they don't have to be held by anyone, you can control the sound from the front, and it's at a height where everyone can see it. You can get a good one for $200-$300. Trust me, it's SO SO SO worth it.
Stopping so many times may become a hassle, we stopped once and just getting everyone from the car to the room and then back was really annoying and we were exhausted by the time we arrived to our destination. We did a 24 hour drive with only an 8 hour stop to have a decent sleep and a decent breakfast. Next year we won't even do that.
Good luck!
Hi, I'm 12 and I have 3 siblings, a 5 year old, 6 year old, and a 11 month old. My 5 year old brother gets very entertained with video games, If you have a 5 year old son, that should entertain him. also to entertain your children, you should print out coloring pages that they want with any things they wanna color with.
Make sure you stop in some places so the kids don't have to get uncomfortable. Be prepared for your kids complaining, cuz that hapens with me and my brother and sisters. bring some music cd's of their choice. Try to be patient with them. Play some games with them, like: I spy, tell them to look for certain things, etc.
Let them pick what they want for the trip, like their favorite books, if you have a writable CD, you could download some episodes of their favorite shows. Here are some links: http://pbskids.org/findit/search_results.html?q=downloads%26amp;x=57%26amp;y=11

What is the best acting advice you have for me?Come on, just about anything will be appreciated. Please?

Congrats on your adoption of your two wonderful kids.....they're lucky to have someone like you in their lives!

No need. I'm sure the time off from work is something he appreciates already.eye liner

TO LIVE FOR TODAY AND TO LOVE FOR TOMORROW IS THE WISDOM OF A FOOL FOR TOMORROW IS A PROMISE TO NO ONECan you give some practical advice on life or a few words of wisdom?
Do not worry about yesterday, because it is gone. Tomorrow does not even exist. Today is now, live it to the fullest and enjoy every moment as if it was your last.
An old one, but one of my favourites:
';A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step';
... some people don't realise important thing like this until they are well into their adult life.... simply look forward... today is the first day of the rest of your life...
Its all about you and what you leave behind much love
And follow dress codes.
Any day above ground is a good day.
Don't complain, Just do : )
no idea
easy going.
dont get sad or mad over little things, its just a waste of time :)
Uhm.. No. Just keep doin what youre doin

Not only will they put your site out there on the web but you also get money for each click.

first and foremost, you need toactually talk to her. then, when you two are closer, or at least have found some things on common beside the fact that you both are at the same gym, lol, bring her flowers (daisies and yellow roses= friendship, carnations and pink roses=for your mom, white roses=death, red roses=passion, lilies=interest, but not desperate...) and ask her out on a date. GOOD LUCK!!!!Advice from girls in asking a girl out, examples of ways youve been asked out that you liked?
hey! haha well i was in a relationship for 3 years and the way he asked me out was amazing..
he came to where i worked and just randomly asked me a question about something partaining to where i worked and then from then it was small talk about like how i liked my job and different stuff.. nothing tooo personal, and then he asked if i want to go to our schools football game with him the next friday and i said yes, we had alot of fun around our friends so it wasn't weird or awkward and then he asked when he dropped me off at home if i would meet him for dinner sometime so we talked the whole next week we talked at school, or online and the following saturday we went out to eat and to a movie, and he let me pick the movie which i appreciated and then during the movie looked at me and asked if i would be his girlfriend and i said yes :) sorry for the long story but i thought it might help you out

Advice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?
Are some of your cats purely indoor cats? Is it hard to keep them safely inside the house? Do you notice any difference in their personalities. For example, the outdoor cat's being less needy than the indoor ones. Thanks.Advice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?
Cats that live indoors live longer, healthier lives. Statistically, the life span of an indoor cat averages 12 to 14 years, whereas it is only about four years for the indoor-outdoor cat. More than 1 million outdoor cats are killed each year by dogs, traffic, and exposure to disease. If you have indoor and outdoor cats, the ones outside could spread diseases to your indoor cats also.
There are many risks that come with letting your cats roam free outside:
- Fleas
- Ticks
- Dangerous traffic
- Eating poisonous spiders, insects or plants
- Attacks from dogs, other cats or wild animals
- Chemicals or poisons such as pesticides, home garden products and car and motor products
- Diseases and other illnesses such as Feline Leukemia (FeLV), Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), Feline Herpes Virus (Rhinotracheitis), Feline Distemper, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), rabies, tapeworm, ringworm, heartworm, hypothermia and urinary tract infection
- Cruel humans who cause harm
- Accidental injuries
- Being stolen
- Getting lost
- HuntersAdvice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?
I have 1 indoor cat and 2 outdoor cats.
Jemima(the indoor cat) is very friendly, loving and affectionate. She adores attention and loves to be cuddled. However, whenever there is an opening to the outside world she will go for it, and often we find her waiting at doors or windows. She looks alot more well kept.
Felix and Tiga(the outdoor cats) are friendly, however they are also very independant. They are much more proud, cauious and protective than Jemima, and they are much less likely to need your attention. They also look much less like a typical house cat and more 'feral', if you understand what I mean.
For example, suppose you were sitting down. Jemima would be climbing all over you , wanting to play, whilst Felix and Tiga would sit next to you, just wanting you to rub them behind the ears.
I had a siamese a while ago,he was supposed to be a indoor cat,but we only let him in the garden,as he saw the other 2 cats go out all the time,it obviously frustrated him, that`s why we let him out,but he never ran away.
If your cat is a kitten and you want to keep it indoors then what they don`t know won`t hurt, but if they were used to the outside then you decided to keep it in,then i find that unfair.
Hope this answers your question.
I would suggest an indoor cat because mine is amazing. My cat is an indoor cat and actually is afraid of outside. My friends cat is purely an outdoor cat and gets into fights with other animals all the time. Her cat even had to get stiches one time. He is very friendly but he also has a very mean side, which my cat does not have a mean bone in her body. Woudlnt you not want the worry of not knowing where your cat is and if it is safe or not? Also, you wouldnt want to declaw your cat if it was an outdoor cat because it would make it harder for the cat to defend itself, which will cause problems when the cat is inside becuase it will scratch up the furniture. And wouldnt you want your cat to be there with you? not outside!
I have one now that wants to go outside and does occasionally sneak out. She was an indoor/outdoor cat before she came to live with me. She is safer inside but I do need to watch for the escape. When she does get outside, she wants back in shortly unless she is sunning in the garden. She was more independent when she had a choice but now she is more affectionate as she has learned what that is since being indoors.
When I first got her and she would run outside, she would bolt across streets and follow me. This was very worrisome as I was always afraid that she would get hit by a car. She did get into some cat fights, but luckily wasn't injured. It is my hope that she will be happy inside and have no desire to go out. She is now at her healthiest since she is mostly indoors and is getting more content with it.
I live with a friend that has an outdoor cat, and I have indoor cats.
I find that her outdoor cat is self sufficient, but comes back every night at the same time for tons of love. Often not letting you sleep for hours until he's finished!
My indoor cats come for love every now and then, but mostly only when they want food.
They're about the same.
I only have a difficulty keeping one cat inside because he loves the trees too much.
Indoor cats are calmer and more loving. Except for one cat we had when I was little, His name was Scrapper and he was so sweet and loving,he was hit by a person driving a white pickup truck on purpose! That cat killer drove right up into our driveway and hit my cat and backed back out and kept driving in the same direction and he was laughing about it! I was a little girl then but I made up my mind never to let another cat outside on purpose again!
I have 6 purely indoor cats which were all strays ie feral
cats that I rescued. I have no problems with them and their
personalities seem to be the same as when they were outdoors. I would never have an outdoor cat since the first cat I had was hit by a car and I found its remains on the road. That was years ago and I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it!
i have 2 outdoor cats and 1 indoor cat the outside cats are mother and son and allways stick together but very funny when they are in the garden but if i go to the shop/school they will follow me and walk me home, the male cat has even gone for a couple of men who has walked in to my house, and wont let my hubby near me on the settee the other one sits on my knee or any one who sits down.
but the indoor cat stays upstairs allday and only comes down when we goto bed
the outside cats have to be in by dawn which they are
I have 2 indoor cats but I have had outdoor cats in the past, one of my indoor cats loves being close to me and my boyf and will lie and sit on us when he can, the other one just does his own thing and only wants petted sometimes I think the personality depends on the cat itself and not whether its kept indoors or allowed out.
I have one cat a Siamese that must stay inside and i have a tiger cat that goes out there is a difference, the inside cat is much more loving and affectionate than the outside one. It really isn't that hard to keep her inside she actually is afraid of going outdoors which is a good thing.
I have one of each, and yes. Some are purely indoor cats and some aren't. One of my cats we see about 4 times a day when she's hungry, then she's off.. The other just stays indoors all day.

Would you have a baby against medical advice?
Is there anything a doctor could tell you, as far as health risks to yourself because of pregancy, that would impact your decision to have a child?
Would you risk your health to have a baby?Would you have a baby against medical advice?
Yes. My Mother did.
My mom had a stomach surgery 5 months before she got pregnant with me. My mom and dad had been married 9 years and she never got pregnant. She had that operation (something internal was wrong) and she got staples on the inside of her stomach.
She never planned to have children because the Doctor said there wasn't really a possibility.
5 months after the surgery, when she found out she was pregnant, the Doctor immediately told her to abort the baby. She couldn't do it.
Later, the Doctor told her that if she didn't abort, I only had a 5 % chance of living and that if I did live, she wouldn't.
He said there was a 1% chance we would both survive the pregnancy.
I ended up being born 2 months early - weighed 4 lbs. 12 oz. and dropped to 3 lbs. 5 oz.
I was in the Hospital for 2 weeks until I got back up to my birth weight.
It cost over 1 million dollars for me to be born (our blue cross covered the majority of that, of course) .. but my mom says it was worth every penny :)Would you have a baby against medical advice?
It depends on what the problem is. I dont think anyone could really answe that question for you....it's for you and your partner to decide.
Look at all the people that are told 'no' and go ahead and everything is okay, maybe that cant be said for everyone but like i said depends the problem and your own thoughts and fellings on the matter.
My friend knew her baby had problems and she had him. He didn't survive past 6 months but i know if i asked her now would she make things different, she would say 'hell no!'....she gave him everything she could. He came past every mile stone a doctor said he wouldn't and shes glad she did what she did.
Don't listen to anyone else, it's not them in your situation it's all about you and whats best for you and the baby!
Good Luck hun!
There are some health risks as to having a child. In some extreme, but rare cases women can die during labor. But an even more likely possibility is Gestational Diabetes and Toxiema (Pre-Eclampsia).Gestational diabetes is a condition in which women without previously diagnosed diabetes exhibit high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes affects 3-10% of pregnancies, depending on the population studied. No specific cause has been identified, but it is believed that the hormones produced during pregnancy reduce a woman's sensitivity to insulin, resulting in high blood sugar levels.Pre-eclampsia is a medical condition where hypertension arises in pregnancy (pregnancy-induced hypertension) in association with significant amounts of protein in the urine. Because pre-eclampsia refers to a set of symptoms rather than any causative factor, it is established that there can be many different causes for the syndrome. However, for the most part, they both go away after pregnancy.
If you need more information www.webmd.com is a good source.
it would depend on the health risk i think. If they said you will die if you get pregnant then i would avoid getting pregnant but if i was already pregnant and they told me there was a problem i couldnt abort it. Interesting question though. Its a tough one i was really luckly to get pregnant quickly so i think i dont realise what some people have to go through to get pregnant so my answer would probably be different if i was like one of them. oh and like someone else just mentioned it would completely depend on if i had other children as well.
I would not intentionally get pregnant against medical advice. If I was already pregnant, I really can't say what I would do, because I've never been in that situation. I imagine it would depend on how old I was, how far into the pregnancy I was, what my relationship with the father was like, and how much of a risk there was (oh and also on whether I had others to care for at the time).
no i wouldnt.
i had to terminate a planned pregnancy at 7 weeks due to malignancy. the dr told me i could have early 'preventative' treatment, or continue the pregnancy and run a great risk with my life.
this was not an option for me. i have a 9mos old baby girl who i want to raise, and love, and teach, and just be there for her. i dont want the only things she knows about her mummy to be the story's that daddy told her.
All of that would depend on if the baby's father felt prepared to raise the baby alone, if it were to cost me my life. If I knew it could kill me and my child might grow up without a mother I might opt for adoption. I had to go through 13 years of infertility work ups to have my child, I would not trade that or her for anything in this world.
Unless you had a transplant or clear indications of failing health, a doctor is not god. They don't KNOW what will happen in the future and whether or not it will impact the fetus.
Yes, I would risk my health up to a point.
no I have my kids to think of, i wouldnt want to be selfish, and take the chance not being there to raise them.
i would love my child just the same! im not sure about having a baby if i would die though. guess i'll know if i'm ever faced with that situation
Yes, I had a Uterine Rupture and went on to have another baby. My life was very much at risk.
if i was already pregnant, yes, there is nothing that would make me terminate my pregnancy!!
Uh,,,,no!!

Uh,,,,no!!
Can you give me a bit of advice about the credit bureau?
Hi!! I've experience some serious hardships and was able to pay back a student loan in the last 12 years. I checked and those records are still on my credit profile. Surprisingly I still got a credit score of 728. If I dispute those old records is there a remote chance that my old bank might have lost the records and then I may get hem deleted from my record? Can you give me a bit of advice about the credit bureau?
If it's Trans Union, call their customer service # 1-800-916-8800 then type in the reference # which should be right above your name and address on the report. That will transfer to a live rep.

Does it seem that your mother is wishing you the worst by giving you bad advice?
Whenever I am aiming for something for the better, my mother tells me to give up trying or can always think of some ways to put me off.
Does this happen to you?Does it seem that your mother is wishing you the worst by giving you bad advice?
I don't know if i would consider it advice but I can relate to what you mean. it seems to me that whenever I'm happy about something that my mom seems to have a way of putting it down and making me feel like a complete idiot and that I made a mistake or something. I have am finally learing that sometimes it is better not to say anything at all.Does it seem that your mother is wishing you the worst by giving you bad advice?
She probably does not realize she is doing this. Perhaps you should sit down and talk with her.
hope you're teenager. sometimes teenagers do something they seem right. this proverb, what an olman sitting down sees, a young man standing cannotsee. Maybe your mum is trying to stop you from doing something that might hurt you. Ask her why she asks you to stopbla bla........She might not be wishing bad for you. be wise

Do your dreams ever give you good advice?
I had a dream that suggested I contact someone I hadn't thought of before for a side job, I did, and it might just work out.
I wouldn't have thought of doing this if not for the dream.Do your dreams ever give you good advice?
No! But I do get the big ';O'; from them once in awhile!Do your dreams ever give you good advice?
Yes! I have found that paying close attention to what is happening in my dreams is a way of discovering and solving questions, perplexities, or mysteries in my life. This is how our subconscious mind works out the things we are dealing with in our conscious world.
A recent dream I had included a divine intervention where I was literally able to fly above a blocked road I had encountered. The irony of this is that it paralleled with what was currently happening in my life. The dream entailed an angel who had commissioned me to fly. I believe it was an answer to prayers I had been asking of the Lord.
Well that is good that you have dreams that can help you.
My dreams are usually about running from zombies or getting bit by snakes so they are not usually very insightful or productive for me. lol
But i will tell you one thing, I am the girl you want to have around if we ever get swarmed by zombies because i sure can kick some zombie @ss in my dreams...lol
YES dreams do give you good advice cuz i had a dream that i was actually studying and i started studying at 3:00 in the morining and i got the highest mark in the class
yes i was having lots of prob with my stomach and my brother in law in a dream told me not to ignore them to keep on the doc to figure out what was wrong and i had a mass on my right side,,
I had one where I saw my bosses %26amp; myself wearing funeral clothes looking into our shop's window, that's a sign that the business is going out %26amp; it did, lucky for me that I didn't buy over the business offer from them.
I only ever remember nightmares, never the good advice dreams.
Your dreams are your greatest ally.
That's great.
Like other people who had answered your question, dreams are ways for people to solve problems etc.
Good for you :)
my bad dreams often admonish me, so in a way, yes

Has your father ever given you sound advice which has helped you in your life?
My father gave me a lot of advice which has helped out of many a jam.
I have found when your dad has gone, it is only
then you realise how smart he was.Has your father ever given you sound advice which has helped you in your life?
Yes, when one day I ask my Dad if I could do something,(matters not what it was) he told me not to ask him as he would not always be around but to ask myself if what I was going to do could be done in front of G-d, if so go ahead and do it, if not maybe I should think about it.Has your father ever given you sound advice which has helped you in your life?
Dad never had the chance. He was overruled by his drunk wife on everything until he finally left. All of my sound advice came from outside sources, teachers, a kind neighbor, clergy and of course the very best teacher which is experience. Sometimes you just take the ball and run with it and hope you are pointed in the right direction. Sometimes you are.
Things I learned from my dad:
If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its' tail on the ground.
Don't date anyone you wouldn't want to be father of your children.
Change the oil on your car every three months and also the air filter and the air in your tires.
Respect your elders.
You can hold a grudge for years, if you want to, but you probably won't be happy about it.
He has been gone 15 years, and every week I think of something I want to share with him.
One piece of advice that my father gave me was when I was still at school and my report card was not great one year. He looked at and said '; you will have to work harder at school because if you don't you will end up working in Woolworth's!'; Goodness knows why he picked Woolworth's but still I got stuck into my school work and never ended up working in Woolworth's.
My father was the greatest man that ever lived to me, everyone thinks they have the best dad in the world but I know I did! I agree with you that its only after they have gone you realise that he was even smarter then I thought he was. You father sounds like he was a rock the same as mine, it was a sad day when he died.
Sorry getting a bit morbid now, good question thanks.
no, I had to get my advice over the years. Granted though my parents were there for me until I was 21 if I were in an accident or something, and thereafter were there as a reference, or if I needed a loan or something, but no advice was given by them.
My father always told me to question things and not to accept things at face value (politics, religion, what people said,etc).........in general.
In particular there's one little thing that I always remember and proved him right on a number of occasions...........
When you see something in a shop you really like and want, buy it straight away. If you go home and think about it,chances are that when you go back they're sold out.......or they've run out of the size or colour you want........
One final thing: he always said :ask and it shall be given to you!
Whenever Pop got angry he would say either, ';When you get married take an apartment on the second floor. Then kick her down stairs every morning before breakfast.'; Or ';Stay single and raise your kids the same way.'; I opted fo follow my heart and love only men. I still think mine was the better solution. It is the one that works best if one is gay.
I can relate with you on this. But, I also know that if I'd taken a lot more of his wisdom and not been so high tempered and stubborn that my life would have been so much easier. It's been proven over and over again during my life.
My father told us to always give something extra to an employer. To do our best and then some was his way and it has always worked for us. I didn't need to wait until he was gone to know how smart he was. I always knew that about both of my parents.
my old man was a pain in the fanny most of the time, but he did pass on some words of wisdom:
1. If she's married,go to a motel, not her house.
2. Buy the cheapest gas and the most expensive oil.
Not much to live by, but they were good advice.
my parents taught me to accept life how it is ( it helped me with my depression and influenced my life ) respect and my favorite : ';Be Good to Feel Good ';
I always buy flowers and go to the cemetery to see them :)
as i am only 15 i am still at the stage of being a mr know it all, but to be honest as i am growing up i am realising that the things he use to tell me about are true
i am now beginning to listen to him as i relalise that he has been around much longer than me and has alot more wisdom. :)
Hello, At the age of three don't go looking for me or your mum as we will find you, so i never did as i found foster Mum %26amp;Dad first never did see the others again how smart was i.
Yes, and my grandfather.
They're both gone now, but there's not a day that I don't think of them.
Grandpa's advice, ';You can't pay too much for good land';.
I cannot agree with you more about your comments. I credit my father for most of my successes in life probably all since his advised of using my head was what I can remember most.
I would never take advice from anyone, I am a law unto myself.
Sometimes I even believe I AM the law, and it gives me a very powerful feeling.
He once told me :
There an no mistakes - just lessons, should you choose to learn from them.
Sadly - several lessons that I should have learnt from I wasted and they were mistakes that cost me dearly.
good question.
During a driving lesson he taught me when the tires are off the road ease them back on the highway slowly. Seems like it has been more than a driving lesson through my life and words well heeded.
He taught me to take responsibility for my own actions. In his words, ';You made your own bed, now lay in it.'; Very good advice.
My Dad gave me lots of examples and now that I am older I realize that it was advice that he disguised as human interest stories.
Only one piece. Never trust anyone, even your father. He was right.
Peace.
My Dad taught me how to do my own income taxes when I was really young. He also taught me how to laugh at myself.
My father believed that a man should work and take care of his family, unless he was ill.
He instilled in us strong work ethics.
Take care of your money %26amp; it will take care of you when your old. And other one A fool and his money soon part HE was right look at the mess were in

Dont you think it is sad that people are using Yahoo Answers for medical advice?
I know many are uninsured, but would you take the chance with your health?Dont you think it is sad that people are using Yahoo Answers for medical advice?
I think it is totally crazy when someone post a pic and says....what is this rash......COME ON do these ppl REALLY think someone can diagnosis a rash from a pic...a Dr can't even do that. Everyone wants to know ';could I be pregnant';.....If you are having unprotected sex.....HELL YES you could be pregnant,....and birth control is not 100%....so called virgins asking could I have a STD.....Do I have cancer, everyone thinks any bump, pain or rash is cancer, WTH is up with that??......
I would not bet my health on answers from a bunch of strangers on the internet, but hey, that's just me.Dont you think it is sad that people are using Yahoo Answers for medical advice?
I think it is a great way to research a health concern especially if you have something unusual going on but not a good place to ask for immediate help. You can get sane answers if the question is sane in the first place.
Hanving said that, using yahoo answers in place of medical attention is a bad idea.
Yahoo Answers is really just a place to get opinions or narrow choices down. Most people don't just go to their doctor and say that I found this on Yahoo Answers and I know that I have it. No. People go on Yahoo Answers to get an idea of what they have. Looking for answers on here doesn't mean that they are uninsured/without healthcare.
I think it is VERY sad that people on this fine country have to look on line because they can not afford a doctors visit. My mom search and search on line for 2 years to try to figure out what was wrong with her. She went to the doctor every couple of months when she saved up enough money for one visit and for one blood test. After about 5 visits the doctor felt so bad that HE payed to do all the blood work on her. She was diagnosed with liver disease and die one month later at the age of 45!!
So yeah it is sad. What are we supposted to do?
I think it is great. No one can read everything, or know everything, so lets get more information. As always, if you don't know the source personally, and have great faith in the correctness of it, you need to study further, but lets get started!
Yes if I was dead broke and I couldn't afford to go to the doctor I would need all the help I could get. Besides people have to use that money for food and gas and thats just about the same price as a doctor's visit now. :(
i think its sad that some people have nothing better to do than criticize other people on the internet ... yes as far as preliminary advice goes ... yahoo can be pretty useful.
Its a good way to get preliminary advice.
sometimes instead of going to a doctor it is easier to speak to someone that has or had the same problem/issue you are dealing with . =)
well if its not too serious, id say its ok to use yahoo answers

Do you have any advice for someone who's considering majoring in Computer Science?
Next semester i'll be majoring in computer science. Im a bit afraid yet excited at the same time. People i know say its too hard and complicated,so Im afraid it would be difficult for me as well. Any advice or information or your experience in that field. Is their anything i can read or watch to learn more.Do you have any advice for someone who's considering majoring in Computer Science?
The only advice I can offer you is not to listen to hard to what people say. I had a lot of people scaring me when I was starting college (saying how hard it is and how hard it would be to juggle work and school) and it's really not that bad at all... It's quite fun actually! I think people are too afraid of the unknown sometimes. Just relax, and don't stress on it. If it is something you want to do, you will enjoy it. Computer Science is a great (and growing) field to study!

Would you use a group on bebo or facebook to get advice on bullying?
I have an anti-bullying group on bebo called Stop The Bullies UK. Would you use social networking groups to get advice or trusted websites?Would you use a group on bebo or facebook to get advice on bullying?
Hi there,
I think Bebo is a great and way easier way to advertise things.
Because Facebook has many factors, one of them is that you can't upload photos and it's just like a 'fan group'
But bebo you can add comments, you can upload photos AND CHANGE YOUR SKIN :)
Hope this helped you~! S2Would you use a group on bebo or facebook to get advice on bullying?
If you want to fight back I'd just search youtube for chuck liddell, I know besides his televised fights he has some infomative videos on pressure points and things that are great for defending yourself.

I am thinking of becoming a babysitter can you give me some advice?
I am always bored on friday and saturday nights, and I do need some money. I am only 12, but girls in my class babysit all the time. I would like as much advice as I could get. Is there classes I could take so that the parents will trust me more, and I won't be as nervous? Is there anyway I can get people to know about me? In my neighborhood no one speaks english except a few houses, and they don't have kids. I live in a big city ex Detriot, so it's kinda dangerous to put up fliers. Help?I am thinking of becoming a babysitter can you give me some advice?
Okay, your question does not make sense at all. No one speaks English in your neighborhood and they don't have kids. Where do you expect to do this babysitting? Makes no sense to me...I am thinking of becoming a babysitter can you give me some advice?
try ur local ymca or ywca they should offer babysitting classes. put an add in newspaper once u get sum training word of mouth is very powerful also.

What's the best advice you can give me when I go to my job interview?
I have a job interview on Friday for a clerical position in the county courthouse, so does anyone have any tips they can give me? I would really appreciate your help, thanks :)What's the best advice you can give me when I go to my job interview?

How do you start from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I am 22 years old female. I will finish college in May. I think of it at the new beginning of my life. I have nothing to worry about. If you were me--How do you start from ZERO?
Thank you very much. How do you start from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I completely agree with the others - you don`t start from zero. At the same time, maybe it is good that you feel in this way - it really keeps your mind open! You have so many opportunities before you and your idea of a zero start will help you not to lose them.
You are at the crucial moment of your life - very soon you will have much more responsibilities: you will have to think of your career, of creating a family, of bringing up your kids. My advice to you - don`t waste your time!
Celebrate the moment by treating yourself with a trip or / and a new hairdo, etc.
Go to some courses. It can be something having to do with your future profession -
1) you will be much more valued as a candidate for the positions you will be applying for!
2) and you will more understand your future profession or, maybe, you will whether you like it or not - it is much better to realize it beforehand, for sure!.
Or you can go to some courses which will enrich your life - it can be anything you like: dancing, swimming, cooking, flower composition - it would be silly of me to give you any more variants... The point is it`s up to you to make your choice! Just imagine - you can try anything! And you will meet new friends there, and they will be people who will have common interests with you! So you will be enjoying it more!
You have time now and desire to embark on something new and interesting - so my advice to you: use your chance and don`t waste your opportunities! How do you start from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
You are not starting from zero. Zero would be 22 and no education. It is the beginning of your adult life. Begin to search out the desire of the heart. You have youth and education. Time to reach for the starts and just enjoy the ride.
Best of luck.
not to sound cliche but that is not zero. life is story, and now you are just starting a new chapter in the book; not starting the book over. you seem to have a good life going for you. good luck in your new ';chapter'; of life.
To start from ZERO, you need to give up your degree, sell your assets, and go live under the nearest bridge.
If YOU define ZERO has the starting point of your life after attaining a degree, i'd do a Monster job search or other job engine and start sending in my resume. Do you want job satisfaction or money?, oftentime they are not one and the same.
Some people are happy with Mcdonalds, Amazon.com, or other low stress jobs while others need more of a challenge. My best advice would be to do something you enjoy.
It's harldy zero. You have an education. Ask the college for help getting a job with their career center.
You are not starting from ZERO, you will have a college degree. The homeless guy who sleeps in front of your dorm, he is starting from ZERO. Your education is making you lose touch with reality.
Some people die trying to move away from 0
Some see the whole world and come back to it
I say ';Zero';, then I count ';One';, then ';TWO';, and then ';Three';, and I kind of just keep going.
You start by finding a job, get a solid foundation of money to fall back on in case of problems. Then you find the thing that truely makes you happy and go for it. You then try to maintain this state the rest of your life.
You must marry me (l0l).
Well honey, if your situation is zero then it`d be a dream for many to be zero.i am in a very similar position except for the fact that i have a job right now.looking for a job related to your field of study would be the best solution.
yo can not start from zero because that would mean loosing everthing u have gained. you could begin anew thought by becoming a better different person. setting new goals for yourself new lifestyle or look. you could also try helping other people by doing charity work or just changing what you may think are flaws in your personality while setting out to accomplish your new established goals.
After graduation you will earn first INCOME cheque. So you are RIGHT to start from Zero. But why ask others - how they start ? (2) Your grammer is poor. Why did you put question mark after the word - Thank You.
Start looking for a job!! Girl. I understand!! I'm graduating from college the first time next year! Can't wait!! I say first time because i'm working for a master's and Ph.D. So yeah. ha. Maybe you should talk to an advisor. Im sure he can help you find one! Or find jobs that you can get with the degree you have and see what comes up. Good luck!!
you can't. you are not zero and will never be again. You are now the product of your life so far and your response to it but you do have the chance to be whatever you want to be. You could try reinventing yourself but I've never found it really works. It schmaltzy but at 39 by advice would be to start liking and respecting yourself (if you don't already) expect good from people, don't accept rubbish (too often) from friends and don't close too many doors behind you as you move through life. take time to maintain friendships, don't just make friends but value the ones you really like and keep in contact, make an effort.
Look after your body, save some money, don't get bored, and do all the things that will be much less practical if you have children.
How exciting!

How to enhance my competitive advantages? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I am a graduate student. Recently, my university chose me to in the university's Brochure as a ';Hero'; story.
It's a wonderful thing. I am just wondering how can I use this opportunity to enhance my competitive advantages. Can I put this in my resume on a reward section?
I hope to pursue my Ph.D and my career in the United Nations, NGOs, or Non-profit organizations. It's a very competitive world out there. Any suggestion on this? Thank you so much for your kindness. How to enhance my competitive advantages? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
Volunteer with the homeless. Teach English as a second language. The point being, experience all levels of society. Go to art openings, gallery's, museums, cultural events. You will also open your eyes to new worlds. How to enhance my competitive advantages? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

I think you will make out ok without any advice from us. LOL
I would use it as it is a very impressive honor bestowed on you for your academic excellence. The people who's attention your trying to attract, look for these extra honors in prospective employees. Something that makes you stand out from the other applicants. Your command of English is better than many of our native English abuser's. And the Question was expertly crafted.
Yes, definitely include it in your CV.
And don't worry about your English - it's better than half of the so-called English speakers who post on the site.

No need to apologise for your English, there are many native english speakers who cannot compose a question as well as you have.
Yes you can use the article in your resume as it will give your future employer an insight into your tenacity and ability to give 100%.
Good Luck for the future
Can't help you, but would love the points!
You could list the fact that you were selected as a hero for the school in the section of your resume that you would put your extracurricular activities like club memberships and academic club memberships.
You could list it as such:
Chosen as the Hero for the University during (Month) (Year)
Then you could explain this if asked during your interview. This would be a good point to really talk good about yourself.

Which painkiller would you advice for during labour?
I know there are a several painkiller drugs for labour,...any ones you would advice on? I am planning on taking them during my labour time.
I am not taking a risk by not taking them =// I just want a smooth labour with not so much pain - that I want to die right there.
Thanks! =)) this is my first pregnancy.Which painkiller would you advice for during labour?
from personal experience, i recommend a continuous epidural. they had mine going for HOURS. they started my epidural at 2pm and i didn't deliver until just after 11pm and then kept it in until they had stitched me up. it felt great. i wasn't tired...i didn't even sleep the whole time i was in labor. i ended up tearing naturally down there and they had to use a vacuum to get her out and all i felt was a lot of pressure during my contractions and the only time it hurt was when her head came out and her shoulders. it was just a lot of pressure. no sharp pains or anything too horrible. i was able to walk to the bathroom by myself 2 hours after having it removed.
good luck with your delivery and just chose a pain med that is right for you. i'm glad i chose an epidural, there's no way, me personally, could of handled the labor and delivery without it.Which painkiller would you advice for during labour?
actually, the epidural (risky, like all painkillers) was great when it worked - my last daughter, however, it failed and i went through a maximum-strength induction au naturel.
*at the time* it was bloody awful - i mean, sheer torture! - but i mean this literally: the second she was out, i was fine! ten minutes after she was born i was demanding to be let up so i could walk myself to the toilet and take a desperately-needed pee.
the absolute best painkiller of all, however, is lamaze or hypnobirthing - failing those, just remember NOT to stress and fight the contractions. allowing them to pass through you really does lessen the pain to the point it just feels like your whole stomach is really really tight.
If you just want ease of the pain but not complete releif from it go with the Stadol, IV drug, it helps relax you and I enjoyed it.
Otherwise, epidural is the way to go, just remember once you take pain help you can't really get up and walk or do a whole lot. Try to hold off until you know you are ready to just lay in the bed :D
Personally I would suggest an epidural. My sister has 6 children and says that is the best. With the first few they gave her Demerol and it made her REALLY mean and kinda loopy. When you take the IV meds you will also have a hard time staying awake after labor to spend some time with your little one. Good luck and congrats!

The world is always full of surprises and answers of each and every question. For no one knows all that is to be spoken like a book. For your family is always be there for you.
From the present to the past, there cant be any thing wrong. You can't hide your past nor the truth, For you will always feel that someone, somewhere will figure out the truth.

Can you give me advice about switching to the Art History major?
I'm entering my junior year of college and I am considering switching my current major (anthropology) to the art history major. I really don't know why I continued to take courses in anthropology but I realize that the major is just not for me. I haven't taken any art history courses yet but I feel that I would be more interested in the art history major than my current one. I am thinking about taking 3 art history courses this fall semester to get a head start on completing the major requirments. There are 10 courses required for the AH major and I want to graduate on time. I am thinking of doing a study abroad in Italy in the spring so I should be able to transfer 2+ credits to the major.
***My question is: Do you think the switch is feasible and wise? Also, what kind of assignments should I expect to have as an art history major. Essay topics?*****Can you give me advice about switching to the Art History major?
absolutely! art history and anthropology are actually related in many ways. art historians have, in the past few decades, borrowed quite a few theoretical concepts from anthropology. conceptually speaking, if you are at all familiar with cultural anthropology, you should have no problem integrating yourself into your new major. now, in terms of what can be expected:
1. if you haven't taken any art history classes, you should start off by taking what is generally referred to as a ';survey'; class. this is the class where you do ancient to renaissance and then renaissance to modern (usually divided into two different semsters at most universities). if you've never taken art history before, it's a good idea to take a survey. it will allow you to figure out what period you find the most compelling and should help you decide what more advanced classes you want to take. you can expect a fair amount of memorization in the survey level class. if this sounds less than thrilling, let me just tell you that it is a bit essential that you have a standard working knowledge about works of art that used to be called ';masterpieces.'; art history is no longer the same as art appreciation, but you do need to be aware of what the canonical works of art are.
2. after you get the survey classes out of the way (most art history majors require you take these, and for good reason), you can move on to more specialized, higher level classes. you will be asked to look at works of art in their proper historical context. you will be learning about the history of cultures and ideas through art. you can expect to have some in class exam taking (short answer or essay format) and you will learn how to write a term paper.
hope this helps. Can you give me advice about switching to the Art History major?
jobwise i dont know what work opportunities you will find in the anthropo;ogy major.
History majors is not for everyone. It has ALOT of reading and memorization. jobwise history major ( in canada) ususally end up teaching (schools colleges universities) or getting a job in the museum.
i took 1 history elective ( canadian history 1001) and had to write 3 report 5 to 10 pages. your must be a good report writer to be able to succeed in history major.
as for me there is no chance i can manage a history major since my english is quite weak.
i think you should think wisely about what you are planning to do in the future before changing majors. If you feel anthropology is not your thing then your are wasting time and need to act fast and change to something of your interest.

What is the best advice you can give to someone that is going into their first year of university?
I am going to the University of Manitoba next year and am taking mainly science and math courses. I want to pursue a career in medicine (hopefully) or as various other specialists such as an optometrist, dentist or pharmacist.
What advice can you give me concerning studying habits and learning techniques that will help me with my full courseload starting in September? What is the best advice you can give to someone that is going into their first year of university?
Dont go at all. College is a sham. What is the best advice you can give to someone that is going into their first year of university?
My pre-med students tell me that the best way to manage everything is to study every day. Don't try to cram everything in before a test or a quiz, and be sure to pace yourself.
Also, if you have a tutoring center on campus, or study groups, or group tutoring, or anything voluntary like that to support you academically, take advantage of it. It will help reinforce the material and it's a less pressured way to study. You'll also learn some techniques from others on good note-taking, reviewing, reading, memorization, etc. I found the site for U of M's learning center, so you can check that out before you start classes.
Time management will be the key for you--you might have lots of ';free'; time in your schedule, but that's the time to plan for studying.
Also, yes, as one other answer pointed out, leave some time for socializing, sleeping, and eating. My friend told me in my second year of college, when I insisted I could not leave my room because I had to read more sociological theory, ';You don't want to turn into a mushroom.'; It's all about balance.
I'm following the same sort of career path as you, so here are some tips:
Classwork
-being in science and math, you won't have many assignments (perfect opportunity to make fun of your BA friends!). Spend the extra time going over lectures, doing prelabs, and working through problem sets.
-sometimes the questions given to you won't provide enough practice; you will have to, in effect, assign yourself homework.
-you'll probably have lots of labs, quizzes, and tests scheduled very routinely. Make sure to keep a calendar to keep track of them all.
-talk to people in your program to help keep track of aforementioned issues.
Laying the Groundwork
-plan your courses VERY carefully. Everything has different requirements, not just between programs but even between schools. Make sure to keep your options open
-check out lots of clubs in your 1st year (or at least find out what they're about). It'll look good on your application to be involved, plus once you're in a club you may start thinking of opportunities through which you can do so. Club field trips are awesome fun, too :)
Well, i've never gone through a first year of college for medicine, BUT what I can remember from my freshman year of 'university', is that you cannot put everything on the academics. You WILL quickly burn out. I'm not telling you to ignore all of your studies, but make sure you make time to meet new people and go to parties.

Do you have any advice for taking care of an African dwarf frog in a school locker?
Please feel free to answer if you have had experience, with or without the school locker part. :)Do you have any advice for taking care of an African dwarf frog in a school locker?
bahahahaha wtf? why is it in a school locker? whos idea was that!? ah thats hilarious.Do you have any advice for taking care of an African dwarf frog in a school locker?
It's on it's own bored lonely... you're endangering it's life. Let it free in the spot you found it in the first place. If you like it too much to let it go, bring it home. But before hand explain to your mum or dad. If they don't like it you'll have to let it go... sorry, but it's for the best.
it can die in a locker or it could escape in a school locker...god...buy a tank or something it can actually live and be safe in.
you're going to kill it. If you can't keep it at home give it to someone who can or a pet shop.
you should really keep it somewhere like a tank, or else it will probably die.

Do you have any advice on how to leave a job graciously?
I received a sudden promotion that will take me out of my current deparment. I am relatively junior and will be taking on a significantly more responsible job in another department. I sense some genuine congratulations from my co-worker as well as some resentment and jealousy. Any advice for bowing out graciously? I have two weeks left.Do you have any advice on how to leave a job graciously?
Tell everyone how much you've enjoyed working with them. Thank them for any assistance/ training etc. they gave you. Tell them if they want to go further to just keep trying. Don't boast or rub it in and generally try to be normal for your last 2 weeks. Well done!Do you have any advice on how to leave a job graciously?
GIVE THEM A TWO WEEKS NOTICE IN WRITING.
Just be very humble and thank everybody even if they didn't help you. Make it seem like your going to miss the place and the people.
REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM , WHO HAS HELPED YOU IN THE PAST ,,, THAT SHOULD TELL YOU
just tell them you are better than them. and if they have problem with you, you would kick their *** anytime.
I am not quite sure why you would turn down a promotion. If you are not ready for it, why would your boss give it to you? If you are worried about your co-workers feelings, get over it.
If you really don't feel that you are ready for the added responsibility, you could tell your boss, ';thank you but I don't feel that I am quite ready for this promotion';.
I had a similar situation a few months ago. I put up a letter addressed to everyone thanking them all for my time there. yada yada yada...you could also send out an email to everyone...
Speak to your current manager and explain the situation and give him two weeks notice to find your replacement.
Very privately with the person that offerd the promo.
