Tonight is the office holiday party, do you have any words of advice to give ?

What types of behaviour should I try to avoid ? Yes there will be alcohol and to top it all off my Performance Review is early next week (Tuesday). If i do something incredibly embarrassing, will they forget by Tuesday ? What tips/stories do you have ?

YUP. DO NOT, under any circumstances, drink alcohol or hang out with or talk with anyone who has consumed more than two drinks. To do so instantly puts you at risk for gossip and to blame for gossiping. It is imperative that you remain completely sober and aware of everyone and everything that is going on so you can avoid being involved in anything that could come back on you.





Personally, I refuse to put myself in those types of environments. It is not worth ruining my reputation over. Going to a office party stoned is even quicker reputation suicide.
Remember: Everything you do around the people you work with (and particularly) your supervisor) will be considered in doing your Performance Review, if not directly then indirectly. Whether it is during working hours or not, everything you say and do impacts others impressions and evaluations of you.





Because of this, drink less than everyone around you. Be fun and casual but professional. Don't say or do anything that could damage your career if you did it during working hours.
Keep an eye on the woman who is working on her fourth drink and, says ';Is it getting hot in here?'; 30 minutes into the party. Chances are good that within an hour, she'll be on one of the desks dancing, with a good possibility of removing clothing shortly thereafter.


Make yourself look good for your Performance Review by pointing out how drunk she is and how she is committing professional suicide with her behavior. Be sure the boss hears. You will look like a model employee in comparison.


NOTE: YOU MUST REFRAIN FROM JOINING HER NO MATTER HOW TEMPTING IT MAY BE. YOUR JOB MAY BE AT STAKE.

You should strive to do something everyone will remember. Remember this is America... People love reality tv shows.





so if you want to make a big hit.. I suggest you show up sober.. But start drinking HARD! Show them you can drink anyone under the table.

Dance around and treat the boss like hes a good old friend. Remember office space?






A couple years ago I was with husband who mixed drinks and got sloshed. His mouth got messy and we almost got put out of establishment.He is still sorry to this day and skipped party last year.





If you know your limit , stick to it. You will be pressured. Eat a little something before going. Snack when there. Move around and enjoy conversation. Use this time to learn more about co workers interest and family. Resist temptation of ';Let me refill that'; If you feel a conversation or group is not approate chang your seat or location. Smile and have fun.
Don't drink to much hand make a fool of yourself I've seen people do this and they become the talk of the office the next day. Just be jovial to everyone and act like your having a great time. Don't tell anyone your personal life either it's better that way.
Don't drink too much if there is alcohol! You'll only make a foold of yourself. Also, don't talk about your co workers behind their backs to other co workers. That's just gonna give you a bad rep.

Don't drink. or just don't drink a lot cuz you'll make an as.s out of yourself. Also, don't sleep with your boss.... that won't go over well lol. Don't talk about others.... cuz it might get around and then you'll look bad. Just have fun!
DONT' arrive stoned. you'll ruin ANY reputation you have at work. also if you drink, don't get buzzed or blind drunk. NOT GOOD. you can drink just keep this one thought in the back of your mind. ';i see these people everyday.';
If your review is due, throw it to the boss's wife, that will probably up your rating......jk, watch the alcohol so you don't do/say anything stupid.
Since your performance review is early next week I suggest skipping the alcohol. Do your best to show an interest in others family or interests outside the workplace. Being yourself is very honest and important.
Be polite.

You should bang whoever is giving you your performance review and then blackmail them into giving you a raise.
Get hammered early, hit on the bosses wife incessantly. Enjoy!

Moderation is the answer. Go with the flow, be you-self, don`t get drunk. Have fun.
Ha ha ha. Once I went to one and I was extremely drunk. I was laughing at their slideshow just a little too loud. I didn't get kicked out though.
