What advice can you give me to get started in providing respice care for foster children?

I have an extensive background working with children and with emotional problems. Im looking more in terms of what placements to expect tips for preparing my home for children. Adjusting my dog to the children and children to dog always will be supervised when together. And for any thing that made placments special for thouse who have been in foster respice care. As well as stories from those who have provided respice care. I hope to specificaly work ith infants and toddlers as that is what would fit into my life and ability to provide care. What advice can you give me to get started in providing respice care for foster children?
As I have not provided typical respite care...I am a guess you would call it full time respite care provider...I am a foster parent. We got two boys right off the bat and made sure that each one had their own bed / brushes / toothbrushes...etc. To make them feel like they were a part of the family. The reason I am answering this is we also have three dogs and it was a concern of mine as well when they moved in as one of our dogs is extremely protective...we just brought the dogs in one by one and let them ';snif'; the boys...then it came to the protective one...we put him on a leash and made him stay like that for a good 10 minutes...now, they are best friends...this dog sleeps in my childrens bedroom at night..it makes us feel alot safer as he barks if a squirrel farts in the neighbors yard...so I know no one will be climbing through any of his windows! What advice can you give me to get started in providing respice care for foster children?
there is no prep work really...just do it and address things as they rise
